Jeremy Surfs
Jer was down with some youth group kids visiting colleges, so they swung by the beach for some sun and surf. After two years of living in San Clemente, Jer had never tried surfing, so we convinced him to go out for the first time into the perilous knee-high swell. He actually did a pretty good job and didn't want to come in. Check out the live footage:
I took this picture from our deck on Tuesday morning at about 9:00 a.m. The entire sky was an eerie pinkish orange color and everything was covered in a layer of white ash. The roads were nearly empty and businesses were closed--it felt like something out of a bad B-rated sci-fi movie. We were so blessed to be no closer than 5 miles to the nearest fire. I didn't take this picture, but this is similar to the view we saw driving home on Tuesday night. We actually live a lot closer to the fire than the place this picture was taken. It was pretty terrifying being so close to such an enormous force of nature.
Paul is SO excited about his new 3-piece folk band with Jerry Soneff and Joshua Sill. Their first gig was at the Living Hope Harvest Festival on Halloween and they did an amazing job. I was so proud of my husband! :)
The Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit in San Diego was AMAZING!!! I couldn't believe how small the script was, and I couldn't believe I could actually read some of it. I could have stayed there for hours...I felt like a kid in a candy shop. After the exhibit Sheri treated us for an incredibly delicious lunch at The Prado. What an experience!
Last year, Dad, Margaret and I--along with some other JESUS film employees--travelled up to Hollywood for our first film debut. We were extras in the film Magdalena: Released from Shame (http://www.magdalenamovie.com). In October, we got to go to the premiere at Paramount studios and see ourselves on the big screen. Dad's scene is my favorite.
Well, this is about us. We met at Starbucks, had our first date surfing, our first kiss on the castle bridge at Disneyland, got engaged at the beach in San Clemente on Valentine's day, and got married May 4, 2002. And we lived happily ever after!
